Originally Northampton in Northamptonshire was known for being the centre of shoemaking and leather related industries in the UK. Today it is a large market town with easy access to Junctions 15, 15A and 16 of the M1 Motorway to the west and within easy reach of Peterborough and Cambridge to the east via A43, A45 and A14 trunk roads.
Visitors to the town may wish to visit the beautiful greenery of Abington Park hosting attractions such as the Green Festival and the Kite Festival. You may also want to see the museum, or the aviary and even take a nice refreshing break in their tearoom. The Racecourse was, as the name suggests, a horse track but, due to accidents in the early 20th Century, it closed its doors in 1904. Today it plays host to the annual Balloon Festival.
